New Validation: Matsuno Muroi (1909-2020) of Japan

LongeviQuest is delighted to announce the age validation of Matsuno Muroi at 111 years old. She was a Japanese supercentenarian recognized as the oldest living person in Tochigi Prefecture at the time of her death.

Matsuno Muroi was born on 1 July 1909 in Japan. She raised her five children alone when her husband passed away sometime around 1940.

Her family described her personality as very competitive during an interview with the Yomiuri Shimbun in 2015. On the other hand, she could also be humorous by saying she is only 30 years old when asked about her age. This made everyone around her laugh. When the city mayor visited her when she was 109, she showed her love for singing as she sang nursery rhymes to him.

Matsuno Muroi passed away on 15 November 2020 in Nasushiobara, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan, when she was 111 years old.
