LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Marguerite Wabano at 111 years old. She was a Canadian supercentenarian known as the oldest living person in the country at the time of her death.

Marguerite Wabano was bon on 28 January 1904. It was reported that she was born “out in the bush” along Ekwan River just north of the present-day Attawapiskat First Nation in Kenora District, Ontario, Canada.

She attended St. Anne’s Indian Residential School when she was around seven years old before. Just after two years of being at school, her family relocated deeper into the wilderness to protect her and her siblings from the authorities and the school.

As a young woman, she married Raphael “Napihen” Wabano along the Kattawapiskak River and eventually had seven children together. The family moved to Moosonee so her husband could search for employment. Around 1995, her husband passed away.

When Mrs. Wabano was 99 years old, she got a pacemaker implanted in her. However, the doctors detected that it had stopped working and they were not sure for how long it had been inactive.

When she was 110 years old, she was living alone while occasionally receiving some help from her children or grandchildren.  At this point, she could still walk while being aided by a walker.

Mrs. Wabano passed away on 13 November 2015 in Moosonee, Ontario, Canada. At the time of her death, she was 111 years old making her the oldest living person in the county at that time.

LongeviQuest is delighted to announce the age validation of Chiyono Kamono at 110 years old. She was a Japanese supercentenarian recognized as the oldest living person in Iwate Prefecture at the time of her death.

Chiyono Kamono was born on 4 September 1911 in Sakaricho (now part of Ōfunato), Iwate Prefecture, Japan.

Chiyono relocated to Tokyo and found employment at a beer factory in the 1912-1926 Taishō era. She got married at some point in her 20s but sadly, her husband passed away in Burma (now called Myanmar) during the Pacific War. Chiyono also endured the Tokyo Air Raids at that time while shielding her son from sparks that showered them. After the war, she returned to her hometown in Ōfunato and started farming as a means of provision for her family.

Kamono moved into a nursing home in 2008 wherein she experienced the impact of the Great East Japan Earthquake on 11 March 2011. Fortunately, she managed to avoid the tsunami by seeking refuge on the third floor of the nursing home. She described this event as something worse than war.

Chiyono Kamono passed away on 24 January 2022 in Ōfunato, Iwate Prefecture, Japan, at 3:49 PM. She was 110 years and 142 days old at the time of her death.

LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Emi Matsuda at age 110. She was a Japanese supercentenarian reported to be briefly the oldest living person in Iwate Prefecture.

Emi Matsuda was born on 2 March 1913 in Waga (which is now part of Kitakami), Iwate Prefecture, Japan.

At age 27, she married her husband and had five children with him. While raising her children, Emi engaged in farming and factory work simultaneously until she reached 80 years old.

Emi started to attend a nursing home back in 2004 and then permanently relocated there in the spring of 2022. She was able to pursue her sewing and reading hobbies while staying at the nursing home. On 2 March 2023, she celebrated her 110th birthday at the nursing home with her four children and extended family members.

Emi Matsuda passed away on 28 August 2023 in Kitakami, Iwate Prefecture, Japan. At the time of her death, she was 110 years and 179 days old, and the oldest living person in the prefecture.

It is with a heavy heart for LongeviQuest to share that Kikuyo Honma, passed away at 112. She was a Japanese supercentenarian known as the oldest living person in Niigata Prefecture at the time of her death on 12 September 2023.

Kikuyo Honma was born on 1 November 1910 in Nunobe, Niigata Prefecture, Japan.

She married a charcoal burner whom she helped in charcoal production after climbing the mountain every day. Simultaneously, she was also tending to various crops in the fields. However, Kikuyo was forced to raise her four children alone after her husband died in World War II in 1945.

At age 112, Kikuyo’s family shared that she was still able to move her wheelchair around as well as feed herself alone. Unfortunately, she passed away from natural causes in Murakami City, Niigata Prefecture on 12 September 2023. Kikuyo was 112 years and 315 days old at the time of her death and was the oldest person in the prefecture since February 2020.

Mineyo Miyai was born in Japan on 20 July 1912.

On 1 September 2022 and 2023, the prefectural governor presented her with a congratulatory letter and a gift after becoming the oldest living president in Wakayama Prefecture.

She is currently residing in Wakayama City, Wakayama Prefecture, Japan.

She married her husband who was a kimono dyer while she was working as a kimono peddler.

After she reached 100 years old, she strictly followed a healthy, plant-based diet.

Yone Kawabata was born on 14 February 1913 in Miyakonojō, Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan.

In September 2021, she was recognized as the third-oldest living person in the prefecture behind Hide Hamabe and Masae Kai. Consequently, after Hamabe passed away on 10 January 2023, she became the oldest living person in Miyazaki Prefecture.

Yone Kawabata passed away on 19 August 2023 in Miyakonojō, Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. She was 110 years and 186 days old at the time of her death.

LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Kikuyo Honma at age 112 years old. She is a Japanese supercentenarian known as the current oldest living person in Niigata Prefecture.

Kikuyo Honma was born on 1 November 1910 in Nunobe, Niigata Prefecture, Japan.

She was married to a charcoal burner and climbed the mountain every day to assist her husband in charcoal production. She was also tending to various crops in the fields while helping her husband. Unfortunately, her husband was a casualty in World War II in 1945 at the young age of 34. This forced Kikuyo to raise their four young children alone.

Kikuyo Honma played gateball as a hobby when she was around her 60s up until the age of 97 years old. She also enjoyed regular trips to nearby hot springs in the area together with her gateball friends.

At age 100, she broke her right femur. The good news is that she recovered her ability to walk after three weeks. However, she was forced to move into a nursing home after breaking her left femur.

At age 112, it was shared by her family that Kikuyo Honma was still able to move her wheelchair around as well as feed herself.

When Chitetsu Watanabe passed away on 23 February 2020, Kikuyo Honma became the oldest living person in Niigata Prefecture, Japan.

She is currently residing in Nunobe, Niigata Prefecture, Japan.

LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Alice Coles at 113 years old. She was an American supercentenarian posthumously recognized as the former world’s oldest living person.

Alice Coles was born on 28 August 1865 in Charlottesville, Virginia, USA. She was born as Alice Flannagan to freed slave parents who chose to remain on the plantation. At the young age of 9, she had already begun working in knitting and other small tasks to help her family. However, due to poor health conditions, she was often rejected by people when applying for a job.

At some point in her life, she married a gardener named Ladwell Coles and the couple had six children together. Mr. Coles later died in 1910 leaving Alice to take care of their children alone.

When she was 97 years old, Alice moved into a nursing home. Four years later, at 101 years old, the memories of her father faded away, but her memory of her mother stayed in her mind.

Alice Coles passed away on 5 November 1978 in Syracuse, New York, USA. At the time of her death, she was the oldest living person in the world at age 113 years and 69 days. She was survived by one daughter, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
