Biography

Marie-Madeleine Saint-Laurent was born as Marie-Madeleine Borrut in Mane, Haute-Garonne department, Occitanie region, France on 9 August 1912. Her parents were Clement Borrut and Nieves “Agnes” Gerotina. She grew up in Catalonia, Spain. At the age of 8, her family came back to France and moved to Masseube, Gers department.

At the age of 29, she married Georges Saint-Laurent. In 1941, they moved to Algeria (then French Algeria). Following the Algerian War, they moved back to metropolitan France. They lived in Chad for some time but eventually returned to France.

Her husband passed away in 2001. At the age of 107, she moved into a nursing home.

Marie-Madeleine Saint-Laurent passed away in Auch, Gers, Occitanie, France, on 14 March 2024, at the age of 111 years, 218 days.

Recognition

His age was verified by Cyril Depoudent of the Les Grands Centenaires Français, and validated by the ESO on 3 November 2022.

Saint-Laurent is currently the second-oldest known living person in Occitanie region (and in Gers department), after Paulette Magné-Ducamin.
