Moritz was born on 15 August 1913. Her father was a city gardener in Aalborg who designed the city’s zoo and the Kildeparken public park.
Moritz married her husband, Sven, with whom she had three children. Her husband was a lawyer, public prosecutor, and former police chief. Together they represented Aalborg at many official events.
At the age of 100, Moritz decided to adopt a vegan lifestyle. However, the nursing home staff later determined that her diet required additional protein intake to sustain a healthy weight. As a result, she transitioned back to a diet that included meat.
Moritz’s granddaughter, Vibeke Hartkorn, is a Danish journalist and former studio host on TV Avisen.
Following the death of 109-year-old Else Rehling on 22 January 2022, Moritz became the oldest living person in Denmark.
Moritz’s age was verified by Stefan Maglov and Jimmy Lindberg, and validated by LongeviQuest on 24 August 2023.
