In 1954, she moved to the Rio Grande Valley in the USA. Her husband passed away in 1977.

Her mother lived to be 102, and her older sister Nemecia died in 2002 at 105. Her eldest son Jose (26 November 1916 – 12 January 2019) lived to be 102. At least three of her daughters died in their 90s.
