Christine Spero was born in New York, USA, on 10 October 1912. Her parents were Italian immigrants, Nicola Mandato and Giuseppa “Josephine” Banizio.

In May 1936, she married James Spero Sr. with whom she had two children. Her husband died in March 2001.

Christine Spero died in Setauket, New York, USA, on 24 February 2023, at the age of 110 years, 137 days. She was survived by two children, two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
