Tsuki Miyajima was born on 17 July 1909 in Japan. Her mother was also said to have been long-lived, and genetic factors combined with a frugal diet from a young age likely contributed to her remarkable longevity.
On her 100th birthday, the town mayor visited her to celebrate her milestone. At the time, she was living in a nursing home in the town and using a wheelchair, but she diligently worked on her rehabilitation every day.
Each year, a grand birthday celebration was held at the nursing home where she resided. During these celebrations, she was gifted her favorite carbonated soft drink, Oronamin C, which she always enjoyed.
Miyajima passed away in Ashikita Town, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, on 18 December 2019, at the age of 110 years and 154 days.
Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Ryohei Asano, and validated by LongeviQuest on 2 December 2024.
