Shitsu Fuchikami [Japanese: 渕上シツ] was a Japanese supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in Saga Prefecture at the time of her death.

BIOGRAPHY

Shitsu Fuchikami (渕上シツ) was born in Shiota Town (now part of Ureshino City), Saga Prefecture, Japan, on January 5, 1896.
She later moved to Kashima City, where she lived with her family. At the age of 101, she was reportedly still able to take baths by herself without assistance.

On September 30, 2005, following the death of Natsu Kumagawa of Imari City at the age of 110, Fuchikami became the oldest living person in Saga Prefecture.

She passed away of natural causes in Kashima City, Saga Prefecture, on October 5, 2006, at the age of 110 years and 273 days. After her death, Chiyono Hasegawa of Kiyama Town succeeded her as the oldest living person in the prefecture.

RECOGNITION

Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group on 10 November 2006 and later recognized by LongeviQuest.
