Miwa Sugisawa (杉澤ミワ) was born in Japan on October 2, 1900.

Following the passing of Haru Kitagawa of Niigata City at age 111 on April 2, 2011, Sugisawa became the oldest living person in Niigata Prefecture.

She passed away in Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan, on October 3, 2011, at the age of 111 years and 1 day. After her death, Masayo Ogawara of Sanjō City succeeded her as the prefecture’s oldest living person.

RECOGNITION

Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group on 7 May 2011 and later recognized by LongeviQuest.
