Maria Eunice de Andrade Guimarães is a Brazilian semi-supercentenarian.
On 29 March 2026.
Maria Eunice de Andrade Guimarães, affectionally called “Nice”, was born on 2 April 1918 in São João del-Rei, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The youngest of seven children that survived infancy, her parents were Dr. Odilon Barrot Martins de Andrade (11 March 1876 – 8 December 1963), a jurist, and Maria Botelho de Andrade (d. 1 June 1965).
While still a child, she moved to Rio de Janeiro, where she built her entire life. On 9 May 1941, she married Hélio Leite Guimarães (30 September 1910 – deceased), a surgical dentist, and started a family, becoming the mother of four children. Sadly, she lost one of her children, who passed away at age 22.
Dedicated to her home, Maria Eunice was a homemaker, but she also shared her knowledge by teaching classes on the centesimal cutting method, a technique taught to her by one of her sisters, demonstrating skill, dedication, and a collaborative spirit. She became a widow at age 70.
Even at age 108, Maria Eunice continues to maintain an active and admirable routine. She is fully lucid, independent, and has excellent mobility. She enjoys going out, dining out, and spending time with her nieces, with whom she shares very strong emotional bonds. Among her favorite activities are playing buraco, doing crossword puzzles, and coloring — a task she performs with care and perfection, creating true works of art.
Her family is one of her greatest legacies: as of April 2026, she has three living children, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. There are examples of the longevity found in the family. Among her siblings, the last to pass away was Brenno de Andrade (15 October 1909 – 29 May 2015), who lived to be 105 years old. Her paternal grandmother, Maria Marciliana Ferreira de Andrade (18 June 1849 – 19 March 1951), lived to be 101 years old.
She currently resides in the Copacabana neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, where she lives with her daughter, Thalia Guimarães Paranhos, who cares for her with great devotion.
Her age was verified by Gabriel Ainsworth and Iara Souza, and validated by LongeviQuest on 7 April 2026.
