Eutelle Nix (née Wilson) was an American supercentenarian.
Nix was born on her family’s farm in Nicholson, Jackson County, Georgia, USA, on 22 April 1912, to parents William Preston Wilson (1879–1916) and Estelle Kinney Vincent (1885–1962). She had four siblings: Averrie Bell (1909–1997), G. W. Wilson (1914–2014), Woodrow Wilson (1915–2012), and Miram Vincent. She graduated from Martin Institute in Jefferson, Georgia, around 1928. In 1932, she married Joseph D. “Joe” Nix, and they made their first home in Commerce, where she worked as a seamstress at the Bluebell factory. During World War II, they moved to Atlanta, where the couple eventually started a thriving business called “Paging Atlanta,” which provided users with thousands of radio telephones and pagers.
After retiring, the couple returned to Jackson County and lived on the old Nix farm in Apple Valley, where her husband had been raised. They were active members of the Apple Valley Baptist Church, where Eutelle taught Sunday school. Eutelle particularly enjoyed gardening, using the skills she had learned on the farm.
After her husband passed away in 1997, she remained self-sufficient on the farm and continued to operate a bush hog on her property even at the age of 100. Following a significant fall in 2012, she moved in with her son and daughter-in-law in South Carolina and later transitioned to assisted living at Helena Place in Port Royal. She outlived her daughter, Jo Anne Nix, who died in 2012.
Eutelle Nix passed away in Port Royal, South Carolina, USA, on 5 September 2022, at the age of 110 years, 136 days. She was survived by her son, Lamar Nix, two grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Her age has not been validated.
