BIOGRAPHY

Ella Mae Savage was born in Concord, Georgia, USA, on 12 May 1907, as the third of 12 children born to Tom and Fannie Jane Chatmon. As a young girl, her family moved to Tennessee and settled in the Chattanooga community, where she spent the rest of her life. She married Elton Savage, and they remained together until his passing in 1968. The couple had a daughter, Lillie Mae.

Throughout her career, she worked with dedication and enthusiasm in a variety of roles, demonstrating a strong work ethic and a cheerful spirit. From tirelessly laboring on a farm to providing outstanding service in the laundry room of the Cascade Motel, she excelled in every position. She held her role at the motel for sixteen years until her retirement.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, she was a devoted and active member of Second Missionary Baptist Church, where she served for many years as a member of the usher board.

Ella Mae Savage passed away in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA, on 30 January 2018, at the age of 110 years, 263 days.
