Elizabeth Culbertson (née Naab) was an American supercentenarian.
Elizabeth Culbertson was born in Park, Kansas, USA, on 2 April 1905. Her parents were Joseph Naab (1872–1948) and Katherine Gette (1873–1956), both German immigrants. She was one of nine children, and the eldest daughter.
While working as a nanny, Culbertson was introduced by a waitress friend to George Andrew Culbertson (1901–1980), an electrical engineering student visiting Dodge City from Pittsburgh. After returning to his studies, George and Culbertson kept in touch through a year of letter-writing. They were married on 17 August 1931, in Kinsley, Kansas. The newlyweds settled in Pittsburgh, where they built their first home and later adopted two children, Paul and Mary Ann.
Her grandson John attributed Culbertson’s good health in later years to the home-cooked meals she enjoyed growing up on the farm. He remarked that she didn’t try pizza, spaghetti, or Chinese food until she was in her 90s, consistently avoided fast food, and drank mostly water. She also chose to forgo television and radio, preferring instead to spend her time reading metaphysical books.
Elizabeth Culbertson passed away in Sun City, Menifee, California, on 3 April 2015, a day after her 110th birthday.
Her age has not been validated.
