Corine Walter (née Benton) was an American supercentenarian.

BIOGRAPHY

Corine Walter was born in Oglethorpe County, Georgia, USA, on 5 September 1902. At some point, she married John A. Walker. Together, they had ten children, though she outlived all but two of them. The couple worked on their farm, spending long days in the fields picking cotton, feeding chickens and hogs, tending the garden, and gathering eggs. The family lived a self-sufficient life, raising their own meat, canning their food, and making their own soap.

She lived independently in her own apartment until the age of 100, cooking her own meals and taking good care of herself.

On her 110th birthday, she credited her longevity to her love of God, saying, “Follow the word of God. I love God, and I raised my children to love God.”

Corine Walter passed away in Athens, Georgia, on 24 June 2013, at the age of 110 years, 292 days. She was survived by her daughters, Louise Gresham and Lizzie Stroud, 37 grandchildren, 86 great-grandchildren, a host of great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild.
