Ana Luzia de Britto Busch is a Brazilian semi-supercentenarian.
Ana Luzia de Britto Busch was born in the locality of Três Lagoas, Passo Fundo, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, on 25 September 1917 as the fourth sibling (and the youngest). Ana Luzia grew up in a simple wooden house without electricity, lit by kerosene lamps and homemade candles. Her family lived self-sufficiently, growing food and raising livestock. Her mother taught her to read and write using the “first and second books,” as there were no formal schools nearby at the time.
Later, she became a teacher, initially in rural schools under Passo Fundo’s jurisdiction. Her favorite subject was Geography, in which she once scored 100 (the only perfect score in her class) and disliked Mathematics. Ana Luzia worked as a teacher despite great difficulties — commuting on horseback or by cart, sometimes carrying her baby daughter in her arms to school. Later she taught at a private school known as “Escolinha de Campanha,” near today’s Escola João Alfredo Sachser.
She married Selvino Busch (18 April 1927 – 7 February 2001) on 16 June 1956 and had one daughter. Her husband was a truck driver.
Her hobbies were reading religious magazines, watching Mass on TV, and writing poetry (she kept a book of her own poems), and her favorite foods were: rice with chicken, stewed potatoes, rice pudding, pork, bone marrow with cassava flour, and Sunday barbecue with her family.
She was described as a deeply religious woman, who considers faith and religion the foundation of life. Ana Luiza served as a catechist until age 93 at the Igreja Nossa Senhora Aparecida in Três Lagoas.
She currently lives with her daughter in Ernestina, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
Her age was verified by Gabriel Ainsworth and Iara Souza, and validated by LongeviQuest on 7 October 2025.
