Alda Mae Collins (née Hoffman) was an American supercentenarian.
Alda Collins was born in Somerset, Pennsylvania, USA, on 26 July 1902, to parents Henry Wilson Hoffman (1877–1927) and Lucy Victoria Weigle (1873–1965).
At some point, she married William Frank Collins (1895–1976), and couple had two sons, Dr. William Hoffman (1924–2007) and James N. (1938–2023). Alda taught in a one-room schoolhouse in rural Somerset County. Her husband, William, was a World War I veteran who later owned and operated a barbershop in Somerset for 40 years. In her later years, she became a resident of The Patriot, a personal care home in Somerset.
Alda was a member of the United Brethren Church, as well as the Rebekah Lodge and the War Mothers. She was an avid bridge player, belonged to several card clubs, and enjoyed reading mystery novels. Her younger sister, Virginia Hoover (1918–2018), died at the age of 100.
Alda Collins passed away in Somerset, on 29 September 2013, at the age of 111 years, 65 days. She was survived by her son James, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) on 1 August 2013. This validation was later recognized by LongeviQuest.
