Ada “Irene” Cooper (née Reeder) was an American supercentenarian.

BIOGRAPHY

Ada Cooper was born on her parents’ farm in Sprott, Sainte Genevieve County, Missouri, USA, on 6 September 1902. Her parents were Henry Clay Reeder (1847–1926) and Lucy Joanna Pinkston (1864–1933). She had eight siblings, including Hazel (1905–2010), who lived to the age of 104, as well as two older paternal half-siblings.

In the early 1920s, she moved to Crystal City, where she found work at a shirt factory. She married Wendell Cooper (1892–1992), and together they had two children: Wendell “Leroy” Cooper (1927–2016) and Wilma Lorraine Sabo (1932–2012). Wendell died on 2 September 1992, at the age of 100. In 2008, she moved to Crystal Oaks Long-Term Care in Crystal City.

Cooper was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Festus-Crystal City. There, she sang in the church choir, made apple butter, served as a Girls’ Auxiliary (G.A.) leader, participated in the Women’s Missionary Union, and taught Sunday school.

Ada Cooper passed away in Crystal City, Missouri, on 4 May 2013, at the age of 110 years, 240 days. She was survived by a son, Leroy, two grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
