Josino Levino Ferreira, the world’s second-oldest living man, passed away today at 9 AM (local time) in Coronel Ezequiel, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, at the age of 112 years, 185 days. His family confirmed that his passing was due to complications from aspiration.

Josino Levino Ferreira was born in Areia, Paraíba, Brazil on 3 April 1913. He married Sebastiana Ana da Conceição in 1941, and the couple had six children. The couple moved to Coronel Ezequiel, Rio Grande do Norte following their marriage, and remained together for nearly 60 years until Sebastiana Ana’s death in 2001 at the age of 87.

Josino built his life on hard work in the fields. He rose before sunrise each day to care for the land, the animals, and his family. His simple lifestyle, centered around a healthy diet and free from excess, is considered by his family to be the key to his longevity.

As of his 112th birthday in April 2025, Josino had three living children, as well as 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Coincidentally, he passed away on the same day that the world’s oldest man, João Marinho Neto, turned 113 years old.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Josino Levino Ferreira during this difficult time.
