Carme Noguera Falguera, a resident of Taradell, Barcelona Province, Spain, is celebrating her 111th birthday today, according to Ajuntament de Taradell.
Carme Noguera Falguera was born in Olot, Girona, Catalonia, Spain, on 22 August 1914. As a child, she and her family lived in the lower floor of a hospital, where two brothers assisted a doctor. When they left, her father, who used to give house-to-house injections, stepped in to help the doctor. He suggested that it would be a good idea for his daughter to study nursing.
At 16, she had the opportunity to study nursing in Santander, but her mother did not allow her to go, considering her too young. When she turned 19, she enrolled in the School of Nursing and completed a two-year internship there. When the Spanish Civil War broke out, she was working at the clinic, spending most of that time treating tuberculosis patients. Afterward, she returned to Olot, where she devoted herself to caring for the sick and assisting midwives.
At some point, she got married, and the couple moved to Vic in 1951. They had three children.
LongeviQuest extends warm congratulations to Carme Noguera Falguera on her 111th birthday.
