LongeviQuest is happy to announce the age validation of Izabel Rosa Pereira, a 114-year-old lady who currently resides in Minas Gerais, Brazil. At 114 years and 16 days old, she is currently the 8th-oldest living person in the world, a title she shares with the Italian doyenne, Claudia Baccarini.
Izabel Rosa Pereira was born on 13 October 1910, on the farm of her uncle, Antônio Inácio, near Caputira, Minas Gerais, Brazil. She was the daughter of Manoel Pinto Moreira e Francisca Leocádia Moreira, and the fourth of five siblings.
Izabel Rosa Pereira married Antônio José Pereira. Antônio, a widower at the time, already had three children: José, 2 years old; Conceição, 6 years old; and Efigenia, 8 years old. Together, Izabel and Antônio had twelve children, nine of whom were still living as of February 2024: Lairdes, Maria, Manoel, Joaquim, Sebastian, João, Vincent, Francisca, and Helena. Izabel spent her entire life in Caputira. Over the years, the family acquired their own land, where they still reside today.
As of 29 October 2024, she is the second-oldest living person in Brazil and Latin America, following Inah Canabarro Lucas. She is also the third-oldest living person in the Americas, following Canabarro Lucas and Naomi Whitehead. She is also the eight-oldest person ever documented in Brazil.
LongeviQuest would like to extend our gratitude to researchers Iara Souza and Gabriel Ainsworth for their dedicated efforts in validating her age, as well as to her family for their invaluable assistance.
