The official Facebook page of the French region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine has confirmed that the region’s oldest living resident, Mrs. Augusta Oteiza, celebrated her 112th birthday today in the commune of Boucau.

Oteiza was born Augusta Duprat in the commune of Cauneille, on 3 May 1912, in a family of 8 children. She got married in 1935, and went on to have six children. The family resided in Bayonne. When she was widowed at 63, she lived in Anglet, where she spent the following 30 years. At some point, she moved in with her grandson in Tarnos, and eventually she moved into a nursing home in Boucau in 2022.

On 13 December 2022, following the death of 113-year-old Juliette Bilde, she became the oldest living person in the region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine. She is currently believed to be the sixth-oldest living person in France, and the fifth-oldest on the mainland.

The LongeviQuest team would like to extend our congratulations. We hope she enjoyed her day, and we wish her many more years of happiness.
