Gordon Ewers, the third-oldest living man in Australia, passed away in Madeley, Western Australia, on 6 June, aged 110 years, 124 days.
Gordon Ewers was born in Perth, Western Australia, on 2 February 1916. One of three sons, he grew up in Applecross, where his father was the headmaster of the local two-classroom primary school. He won a scholarship to Perth Modern School and, after matriculating, joined the Customs Department, where he enjoyed a long and fulfilling career. He and his wife were married for 63 years and together raised two daughters.
At the time of his passing, he was the third-oldest living man in Australia, after Ken Weeks, 112, and Bill Morgan, 110. When Ewers turned 110 in February 2026, it marked the first time in Australian history that the country had three living male supercentenarians simultaneously.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Gordon Ewers during this difficult time.
