Otoji Hasegawa (Japanese: 長谷川乙次), a resident of São Paulo City, Brazil, turned 110 years old today.

Otoji Hasegawa was born in Kasai-cho, Hamana-gun (now part of Hamamatsu City), Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, on 3 December 1915, to parents Jisaburo and Katsu Hasegawa. On 28 March 1935, at the age of 19, he departed Kobe with his older brother, Takaji, aboard the passenger-cargo ship Manila Maru. On 23 May 1935, the ship arrived in Santos, from which Otoji was assigned to farm on land situated along the Mogiana railway within the interior of São Paulo state.

At the age of 58 on 23 August 1974.

On 21 July 1942, he married Mitsuko Shiraishi in Fernão, São Paulo. His wife was also an immigrant, having come from Yamaguchi Prefecture. From this marriage, five children were born.
