Margit Larsen (left) and Lina Anundsen (right), who share the title of Norway’s oldest living person, are celebrating their 111th birthdays today, according to VG.

The two women have held the title of Norway’s oldest living people since 27 February 2024, following the passing of 109-year-old Vidar Eide. Anundsen currently resides in her native village of Siljan in Eastern Norway, while Larsen lives in Odda in Western Norway.

Lina Anundsen was born in the village of Siljan, in Telemark county, on 12 November 1914. In her youth, she loved dancing, but after several preachers visited, she became a devout Christian and attended the village prayer house for many years.

In 1934, at the age of 20, she married a truck driver named Gunnar and had six children over the next 19 years. Their children were: Lillian (born 1935), Ingrid (born 1937), Solveig (born 1943), Bjørn (born 1945), Anne Lise (born 1951), and Ole Gunnar (born 1954). Her husband passed away in 2002, aged 89.

Margit Larsen was born in the municipality of Hamre (present-day Åsane), Vestland County, as the second of five siblings. She outlived all four of her siblings. Larsen worked for many years as a maid before marrying Erling Larsen in 1950. The following year, their daughter Ingebjørg was born, and she became a full-time housewife. In addition to her family duties, she was highly involved in politics with the Christian Democratic Party (KrF) and actively participated in scouting and volunteer work.

LongeviQuest extends its heartfelt congratulations to both ladies on their birthdays.
