Árpádné Juhász, the oldest living person in Hungary, is celebrating her 111th birthday today in Győrújbarát, Győr-Moson-Sopron County.

Árpádné Juhász was born in Győr, Győr-Moson-Sopron County (then Austria-Hungary), on 14 May 1914. Her father died early, but her mother raised her with the belief that family is the most important thing.

At some point in her life, she got married and had a daughter. She worked as an assistant to the doctor at the Richards factory in Győr for decades, up until her retirement in 1970. At the age of 97, she moved into a nursing home in Győrújfriar, where she currently resides.

Juhász credited her longevity to staying active and moving as much as she can throughout her whole life. At the age of 108, she was no longer able to walk, and relied on a wheelchair to move around.

On 17 December 2022, following the passing of 111-year-old Istvánné Fejes, she became the oldest (known) living resident of Hungary. At the time, she was 108 years and 217 days old. She is the fifth known person in Hungary to reach the age of 111 and the last known individual born in the country before the start of World War I.

LongeviQuest extends warm congratulations to Árpádné Juhász on her 111th birthday.
