Sister (Sor) Rosario Soto, the oldest living nun in Spain, celebrated her 111th birthday in Santander (Cantabria) on 3 March, according to Spanish politician Gema Igual Ortiz.
Rosario Soto was born in Spain on 3 March 1914. She spent a lot of years educating and training students at the Concerted College Handmaids of the Sacred Heart (Spanish: Esclavas del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús) in Santander.
She is currently the second-oldest known living nun in Europe, after Maria Helena Aguiar of Portugal.
