Martha Bühler-Meyer, the second-oldest living person in Switzerland, passed away in Horw on 20 November, at the age of 110 years, 118 days. Her passing was reported by Gemeinde Horw on 20 December.
Martha Bühler was born on 25 July 1914.
At the age of 107, it was noted that she had enjoyed excellent health throughout her life, rarely requiring medical attention. On her 107th birthday, she received a special visit from Mayor Ruedi Burkard and Deputy Municipal Clerk Fabienne Vogel at the nursing home in Horw, where she resided. Although her hearing was gradually declining, she was reported to be in otherwise good health. On her 109th birthday, the Mayor of Horw, accompanied by his team, visited her once again and presented her with a bouquet of flowers, a box of chocolates, and a shopping voucher.
At the time of her passing, she was the second-oldest living person in Switzerland, after Martha Furrer-Omlin.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Martha Bühler during this difficult time.
