Cleveland, Ohio — Marie Cheatham, one of the oldest living residents of the U.S. state of Ohio, passed away on September 25th, at the age of 110 years, 342 days. Her passing was first reported by the Strowder’s Funeral Home.
Cheatham was born in Hawkinsville, Georgia, USA, on 19 October 1913. She grew up on a farm in Georgia and learned to cook at an early age by her mother’s side. She grew up with a deep love for music, particularly blues and gospel, and sang in her church choir. With her mother playing the piano, Saturday nights at their house were always filled with dancing and singing. Later in life, she married and had six children.
Her daughter Janice said that her mother’s longevity was probably due to her upbringing on a farm, where she would go to bed early, wake up early, stay active with chores, and eat food she grew herself, leading to a healthy lifestyle.
