On October 18, Niigata Prefecture’s Elderly Welfare and Health Division announced the passing of the prefecture’s oldest resident, a 112-year-old woman.
At her family’s request, her name, address, and exact date of death were not disclosed. However, research by LongeviQuest indicates that she was born on October 10, 1912, suggesting she passed away sometime between her 112th birthday and the announcement on October 18.
Following the passing of 112-year-old Kikuyo Honma of Murakami City on 12 September 2023, she became the oldest living person in Niigata Prefecture, at age of 110 years, 337 days.
Following her passing, the title of the oldest resident in the prefecture was reported to belong to another anonymous 111-year-old woman.
