Russell Nelson, the president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has turned 100 years old.
Known as the world’s oldest religious leader, Russell Nelson is older than both the 87-year-old pope and 89-year-old Dalai Lama. Longevity is common among the leaders of the Church of Latter Day Saints. Including Nelson, 7 of the 17 Presidents of the Church have served into their 90s.
His church will celebrate this remarkable milestone by holding a 75-minute special birthday broadcast. “Throughout his life, President Nelson has been a living example of caring for the one as both a disciple of Jesus Christ and a world-renowned heart surgeon,” the LDS church stated.
Marsha Nelson Workman, the oldest child of President Nelson, expects that her father is excited about his 100th birthday. “He’s a numbers guy, I think to achieve a goal like that — although I’ve never heard him say that’s a goal — now that it’s here at the doorstep, I would imagine he’s pretty excited about that.” Marsha mentioned in an interview.
LongeviQuest sends our warmest greetings for President Nelson’s 100th birthday celebration and wishes him more years of good health.
