Ume Sawabe was a validated Japanese supercentenarian known as the sixth-oldest living person in Hokkaido Prefecture, at the time of her death.
Ume Sawabe was born on 17 March 1908 in the village of Shirikishinai, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan.
She never experienced any serious illnesses and enjoyed growing vegetables in the fields until she was 105 years old. She attributed her long life to eating three proper meals a day. Her favorite foods include sashimi, eel, and rice, which she consumed in large quantities.
She began using a nursing home in March 2018 for short stays and moved there permanently by August of the same year.
Sawabe passed away on 17 October 2018 in Hakodate, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan.
