Chateau-d’Olonne, Vendee, Pays de la Loire — Mrs. Marie-Rose Tessier, who is currently the oldest living person in France, celebrated her 114th birthday on May 21st. Her birthday was confirmed by France 3 Régions – Franceinfo.
Tessier was born on a farm in Beaurepaire, Vendee, Pays de la Loire, France on 21 May 1910. On 14 November 1927, she married Auguste Tessier in Ardelay (now Les Herbiers), Vendee.
Her husband was killed by bombs during World War II in 1944. Her only daughter had already passed away. Today, she has a granddaughter and great-granddaughter who live in Italy, as well as nephews who are already over 90 years old.
On 17 January 2023, following the passing of 118-year-old Lucile Randon, she became the oldest living person in France. She is the 16th French person to have reached the age of 114 (14th in mainland France).
