It is with great sadness for LongeviQuest to report that Carmen Slough of Arizona passed away at 110.
Carmen Slough was an American supercentenarian born during the Spanish Flu Pandemic in 1914 in Douglas, Arizona.
She lived through the two World Wars where her brothers and friends had served.
She had businesses where she hand wrote accounting ledgers but later learned to create computerized spreadsheets. She started to be an entrepreneur at a young age with her husband, Alfred. The couple owned and operated “Slough’s Market” and then later co-owned and operated Carm-Ed’s Men’s and Boy’s Clothing store with her brother. The business ran for 47 years.
After her husband passed away, she raised her son alone and made sure that he would get a college education to become an Educator and Coach.
Carmen was honored at 100 for being the oldest living graduate of Globe High School and inducted into the GHS Hall of Fame.
Carmen Slough passed away peacefully on 27 April 2024 in her home. LongeviQuest sends our deepest condolences to the bereaved family and friends of Carmen Slough.
