Anna Gillette was a validated American supercentenarian who died in 2001 at the age of 111. At the time of her death in 2001, she was among the oldest residents of the US state of Wisconsin.
Anna Gillette was born in Fountain City, Buffalo, Wisconsin, United States on 5 August 1890. She balanced work and personal passions. After attending school, she started sewing women’s bras in a factory. In the evenings, her musical talent shone as she played piano in an orchestra with four other musicians. World War II saw her contribute to the war effort by working in an ammunition factory.
Married in 1910 to a railroad telegraph operator, Gillette enjoyed extensive travel across the US thanks to her husband’s job. They eventually settled in Oquawka, Illinois, where she spent over 50 years. In her later years, she returned to her hometown and lived independently until the age of 108 before transitioning to a nursing home.
She passed away in Fountain City, Buffalo, Wisconsin, United States on 21 November 2001, at the age of 111 years, 108 days.
