LongeviQuest is delighted to announce that the USA’s oldest known living person turned 116 years old. Edie Ceccarelli’s hometown of Willits celebrated his birthday despite rough weather. Her birthday parade was led by local police and fire officials. This celebration has become an annual tradition. Ceccarelli is currently the oldest living person in the United States and California’s all-time longevity record-holder. Furthermore, she is the second-oldest living person in the world.
Edie Ceccarelli was born on 5 February 1908 in Willits, California, USA. In 1927, she graduated from Willits Union High School. She got married in November 1933 and the couple moved to Santa Rosa, California. Her husband worked as a pressman for the Santa Rosa Democrat.
Ceccarelli is currently residing in Willits, California, USA. She was living in her own home until she was 107 years old. After that, she moved into a senior living facility.
On 14 July 2023, Ceccarelli surpassed Gertrude Baines’ final age. She then became the oldest woman to have ever lived in California.
On 16 October 2023, at the age of 115 years, 253 days, she surpassed the final age of Christian Mortensen, becoming the oldest person to have ever lived in the U.S. state of California.
On 12 December 2023, following the death of 116-year-old Fusa Tatsumi of Japan, Ceccarelli assumed the position of the second-oldest living person, only behind María Branyas Morera.
