LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Ellen Boenig of the United States at age 111. She was born in Oakville, Live Oak County, Texas, United States on 21 October 1905. Orphaned at birth, Boenig grew up in Blanconia with her aunt and uncle. They didn’t own a car until she was 13 when she claimed her father’s Ford Model-T. At 14, Boenig proudly claimed to be the first woman in Woodsboro to drive a pickup truck.

Boenig got married in 1922 and raised 6 children as a homemaker and gardener. In 1941, they moved to Beeville. A dedicated member of Trinity Christian Church, she visited all US states except Rhode Island, playfully claiming “it was too small to find.” Legally blind from glaucoma in her 90s, she maintained an adventurous spirit.

Boenig passed away in Beeville, Texas, USA, on 16 April 2017, at the age of 111 years, 177 days. At the time of her death, she was the second-oldest (known) living person in the U.S. state of Texas, behind Hazel Gates. She was survived by three of her children, as well as 20 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

LongeviQuest congratulates Ellen Boenig’s family on her posthumous recognition.
