Miyuki Sone was born on 10 March 1913 in Furubira, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan.

When she was in her 20s, she married a fisherman who was a distant relative of hers. The couple then moved from Hokkaido to Toyama and had seven children together. While working as a fisherman, Mrs. Sone would her husband by assisting him in running a fish shop.

She had her eyesight fully restored through cataract surgeries at ages 92 and 96 that enabled her to read newspapers again without glasses until 110 years old. In December 2022, she contracted COVID-19 but later had a full recovery. In June 2023, she fell from her wheelchair that resulted in a skull fracture. She endured the pain despite the visible scars on her face as the doctor voted against surgery because of her advanced age.

As of September 2023, she wears a helmet to protect her fractured skull. Mrs. Sone now communicates with her family through written messages. At this point, she was reported as the oldest living person in Toyama Prefecture, Japan, where she currently lives.
