LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Barbara Barton of the United States at age 113. She was born in Barrington, Rhode Island, United States on 12 October 1908. Barton was the oldest known person living in the U.S. state of Rhode Island at the time of her death. She also held both all-time state records (birth and residency/death) since 2020. She was a wife and a mother to 4 children.

Barton was a Girl Scout when she was young and even once met the First Lady of the United States. She graduated from Barrington High School in 1926 at the age of 17. Barton studied textile design, graduating in 1928, and later worked as a fabric designer. She used to teach Sunday school at Warren Methodist Church. Barton lived independently until she was 102 years old. She fell and broke her arm when she was 104 years old, and she had to move into a care home, Hattie Ide Chaffee Home in Providence, Rhode Island.

At the age of 113, Barton was believed to be the fourth-oldest living person in the country, with only three validated supercentenarians older than her (Bessie HendricksEdie Ceccarelli, and Hazel Plummer).

Barton died in Providence, Rhode Island, USA on 12 August 2022, at the age of 113 years, 304 days. She was survived by all four of her children, with the eldest of them, Prudence Bishop, being 90 years old at the time. At the time of death, she had 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
