It is with a heavy heart for LongeviQuest to share that Kikuyo Honma, passed away at 112. She was a Japanese supercentenarian known as the oldest living person in Niigata Prefecture at the time of her death on 12 September 2023.

Kikuyo Honma was born on 1 November 1910 in Nunobe, Niigata Prefecture, Japan.

She married a charcoal burner whom she helped in charcoal production after climbing the mountain every day. Simultaneously, she was also tending to various crops in the fields. However, Kikuyo was forced to raise her four children alone after her husband died in World War II in 1945.
