BIOGRAPHY

Waki Muneta was born in Japan on 22 March 1893.

At some point, she moved into a nursing home for the elderly.

Waki Muneta passed away at her nursing home in Kui-chō (now Mihara City), Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, on 20 January 2005, at the age of 111 years, 304 days.

RECOGNITION

On 13 November 2003, following the death of 114-year-old Mitoyo Kawate, she became the oldest living person in Hiroshima Prefecture.

Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Nobuko Endo, and validated by the GRG on 15 September 2004.

Upon her passing, Yukino Kato (born 24 February 1895) succeeded her as the Prefecture’s oldest living person.
