Sophia “Sophie” Schuster was a German supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in the state of Bavaria. Her age has been validated by LongeviQuest.

BIOGRAPHY

Schuster was born in Germany on 7 April 1906. She married Theo Schuster, with whom she had seven children.

At the age of 95, Schuster travelled independently to Tuscany. She moved into a nursing home on her 101st birthday. As a supercentenarian, she had 40 grandchildren and an unreported number of great and great-great-grandchildren. She claimed that hard work and piety were the most important factors of her longevity.

Schuster died on 28 April 2016 in Burgheim, Bavaria, Germany at the age of 110 years, 21 days.

RECOGNITION

Following the death of Auguste Ehard, 110, on 22 March 2016, Schuster became Bavaria’s oldest resident. Upon her own death, the title passed to Robert Winterstein, then aged 108.

Schuster’s age was verified by Georg Fürholzer and validated by LongeviQuest on 25 May 2024.
