RECOGNITION

On 25 April 2023, following the passing of 113-year-old Shina Seki, she became the oldest living person in Ibaraki Prefecture.

Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Yumi Yamamoto and Yu Li, and validated by LongeviQuest on 16 May 2023.

On 30 July 2023, at the age of 113 years, 207 days, she surpassed Shina Seki’s final age, becoming the second-oldest person to have ever lived in Ibaraki Prefecture, only after Chiyo Shiraishi (1895–2009). She held this title at the time of her passing.

Upon her passing, she was succeeded as the Prefecture’s oldest living person by 113-year-old Ina Okazawa.
