Piragibe Fernandes was born in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, on 13 December 1916. He married Adyr de Almeida Lima Fernandes, a native of Cambará do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul. After their marriage, the couple moved to São Francisco de Paula, where they built their life together. They have been married for 73 years. They had six children, and the family grew to include four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter by the time he was 108.
Of Italian descent, he has inherited the rich culture and traditions of his ancestors. Even at 108, Piragibe leads a simple yet cultured life. He has a deep love for reading and stays well-informed about local and global events. Every morning, he begins his day by reading the newspaper, keeping up with news and analysis on politics, economics, sports, and culture. A passionate football fan, Piragibe enjoys watching matches on television. He is a devoted supporter of Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense. He also has a great appreciation for nature and enjoys long walks, which help maintain his health and vitality.
Family is at the heart of Piragibe’s life. He shares a strong bond with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. A dedicated father and grandfather, he takes great pride in his family’s achievements and cherishes the time spent with them.
