María Piedad Roa (née Martínez Zavala) was a Mexican-born American supercentenarian whose age has been validated by LongeviQuest.

BIOGRAPHY

Piedad Roa was born in Huanímaro, Guanajuato, Mexico, on 6 August 1876 to parents Félix Martínez and Josefa Zavala.

On 20 May 1897, she married Florencio Roa (1872-1955). The couple had at least eight children. Her husband worked on the railroad in the United States and occasionally returned home to visit. In 1927, he sent for Piedad and their three children, and they established their residence in Carlin, Nevada, USA.

After her husband passed away in 1955, she moved to Ogden, Utah, where she lived for her remaining years.

As she approached her 105th birthday in 1981, she remained keenly alert and in excellent health, having never undergone surgery or suffered serious illnesses. Despite failing eyesight and difficulty walking without support, she fearlessly took her first jet flight to Los Angeles at age 90. Her long life was attributed to hard work and proper nutrition.

Piedad Roa passed away on 23 September 1986 in Ogden, Utah, United States, at the age of 110 years, 48 days. At the time, she was survived by six living children: Agustina, Maria, Julia, Jesus, Josefina, and Salvador, including 20 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, and 31 great-great-grandchildren.
