Meta Clara “Mattie” Bongs was an American supercentenarian.

BIOGRAPHY

Meta Bongs was born in Raymond, Minnesota, USA, on 19 August 1903. Her parents were William Fredrick Bongs (1862–1952) and Augusta Ottilie Barbknecht (1864–1925). She had nine siblings. She worked in the storeroom at Woolworths in Elyria until her retirement in 1967. Bongs was a devoted member of Grace Lutheran Church in Elyria, where she was confirmed on 28 March 1920, and remained an active member for 94 years. She also participated in the church’s Ladies Aid group and enjoyed spending her time crocheting and tatting.

Meta Bongs passed away in Willard, Ohio, on 25 June 2014, at the age of 110 years, 310 days.
