BIOGRAPHY

Louise Oudin was born in Lille, the capital of the Hauts-de-France region, on 17 January 1915. She grew up in a family of twelve children, where she was the fourth. Her father, Louis, was discharged from military service in 1914 due to family obligations, but he later rejoined the Belgian army. At the age of 12, she began working in a handbag and military equipment factory.

In 1935, she married Yvo Warnez in Lille, and they had two sons. The first, Yvon, enlisted in the army and died of malaria in Africa. Their second son, Michel, born in 1947, became a chemical engineer in Copenhagen, Denmark. By the age of 110, Louise had two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In 1960, she left Lille and moved to Franche-Comté, first settling in Deluz (Doubs), and later in Oiselay. It was in Oiselay that she met Jean Oudin, a cabinetmaker from Frasne-le-Château, whom she married in 1973. In 1978, the couple relocated to Oiselay. Her second husband passed away on 17 November 2024, at the age of 94. Following his passing, Louise was hospitalized in Gray.

Louise Oudin passed away in Oiselay-et-Grachaux, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, on 10 February 2025, at the age of 110 years, 24 days.

RECOGNITION

On 18 October 2024, following the passing of 110-year-old Geneviève Connessons, she became the oldest living person in the region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, at the age of 109 years, 275 days. Upon her own passing, she was succeeded by Carmen Rovira Beurey (born 25 August 1917) of Gray.
