José Francisco Caxito was born on 12 November 1917 in São Romão, Minas Gerais, Brazil. His parents were Joaquim Abadias Caxito and Josina Archanjo Leite. He had three younger siblings (one brother and two sisters).
While still young, he left his birthplace for São Paulo and later moved to Rio de Janeiro. He was employed by the now-defunct Ministry of Transportation and Public Works and worked for the Estrada de Ferro Noroeste do Brasil (Northwest Railway of Brazil), which ran from Bauru, through Três Lagoas and Campo Grande, to Corumbá.
His work involved the construction of the railway connection between Corumbá and Santa Cruz de la Sierra, in Bolivia. While there, he met the woman he would later marry, Ana Ribeiro Caxito (26 July 1936 – 25 September 2000). After the closure of the railway line linking Brazil and Bolivia, he was assigned to serve in the Brazilian Navy in Cáceres, where he was transferred by the federal government, serving the Agência Fluvial de Cáceres for 30 years.
He had six children (four sons and two daughters). Three of the sons pursued careers in the Navy, while the other chose civilian life midway through his career, and the two daughters became teachers. At 108, he has 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
His age was verified by Gabriel Ainsworth, Filipe Lopes and Iara Souza, and validated by LongeviQuest on 12 December 2025.
