Ito Nakagawa (Japanese: 中川イト) is a Japanese supercentenarian whose age has been validated by LongeviQuest.

BIOGRAPHY

Ito Nakagawa (中川 イト) was born on 23 August 1916 as the only daughter of a farming family in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, Japan.

During her childhood, she moved to Hakodate because of her father’s work and has lived there ever since. She later married a man who worked for Japanese National Railways. The couple had four children—two sons and two daughters—and Nakagawa devoted herself to caring for her family as a homemaker.

At the age of 94, she became unwell and was hospitalized. After leaving the hospital, she moved into a care home. She was still able to walk on her own even after turning 100.

Nakagawa suffered strokes at the ages of 63 and 88 but has had no further strokes since then. She celebrated her 110th birthday in August 2026.

She has a taste for salty foods. Until around the age of 107, she occasionally enjoyed potato chips. Even at the age of 110, one of her favorite foods is shiokara (salted and fermented squid), which she sometimes enjoys with white rice.

According to staff at her care home, the secret to her longevity may be eating three proper meals every day. She generally eats three proper meals a day, and this remains part of her daily routine even at the age of 110. Several times a week, she receives rehabilitation therapy in which the muscles in her legs are stretched and massaged. Apart from mealtimes, she spends much of her time resting comfortably in her room.

She currently lives in a care home in Hakodate, Hokkaido, Japan.
