Gertrude Luther was born in New York State, USA, on 20 June 1915. At some point, she married Lester Luther, and they were married for 53 years, until his passing in 1994. They had at least two children, Gary and Sally.
At the age of 105, she had three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. At the time, she still lived at her own home, and enjoyed cooking and watching TV.
