Elsie Usherwood

BIOGRAPHY

Elsie Usherwood was born in Ralls County, Missouri, USA, on 5 May 1908, to parents David Jefferson Taylor (1881–1953) and Clara Pansy Long (1892–1982). She had one sister, Pearlie Belle Smallwood (1910–2005), and six brothers.

She first married William “Bob” R. Adair on 25 September 1927, and he passed away on 27 February 1966. She later married James H. Usherwood on 17 July 1971, and he passed away on 25 April 1990. With her first husband, she had a son, Jesse L. Adair (1928–2019). She retired from St. Elizabeth Hospital as a nurse’s assistant.

Elsie Usherwood passed away at Luther Manor Nursing Home in Hannibal, Missouri, on 18 March 2020, at the age of 111 years, 318 days. She was survived by her daughter-in-law, one granddaughter, two great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
